Fresh from the seat at the end of the bar, we'd like to welcome Alex (Beer & Vinyl) joining the airwaves of Vinyl Community Podcasts fresh off his recent sit down with the owner of of Plaid Room Records and Coleman Records of Loveland, Ohio - Terry Cole. Colemine is a label home to some of the best indie + soul music out today, featuring artists like Durand Jones, Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio (DLO3), The Jive Turkeys, and Kendra Morris (to name a few), and home to others on sub-labels Karma Chief Records, Remined Records, etc.

The conversation touches many points in the history of both the Colemine label and the Plaid Room Records shop itself. Concert Buddie | Too Many Color Variants?

Back in the building Buddies with another pod-exclusive presentation here on Vinyl Community Podcasts! Touching on a topic that's recently been in the news with Billie Eilish and her recent Billboard interview talking about the cash grab that persists with the overproduction of vinyl color and cover variants. Sure, there's a free market component to this topic, but she was also talking about the environmental effects that producing so many different vinyl variations is having from a sustainability perspective. Spurred in part by a recent Melinda Murphy video touching on it (link below), I give my thoughts on the topic, share some poor man's Mr. Science behind vinyl, and share some examples of albums & artists mayyyyybe not needing to make so many copies of their works (yes, Taylor Swift comes up). Concert Buddie | I Sold On Whatnot (Now What) with Spinz Vinyl

The record keeps spinning, Buddies! Another brief pod-only show here on Vinyl Community Podcasts, this time joined by friend of the pod Jason (Spinz Vinyl) who recently took the plunge to selling records on the ecommerce platform Whatnot. If you are unfamiliar, Whatnot is an application/website that is hosted by individual sellers (sometimes including brick & mortar shop owners) selling their wares through the medium. It extends beyond vinyl records and includes sports cards, video games, clothing, shoes (and a ton more). Jason recently tried his hand at selling records in conjunction with his partnership with MION Records, and held two auctions right out of the gate. Here he shares he thoughts on the platform, why he is selling records there, how he chooses titles to sell there, and (most importantly) would he do it again (SPOILER: he is on March 30th at 12pm PST/3pm EST).
