Buddies, you know how important quality and good sounding vinyl are to record collectors everywhere. Today on the pod I speak with Jeff Betten, founder of Hellbender Vinyl in Pittsburgh, PA who gives us a peak behind the curtain of their facility. Open for just under two years now, Hellbender has quickly developed a reputation for quality and creative solutions. As Jeff says "if you can dream it up, we can make it happen". Here Jeff shares the origins of Hellbender, and how an ambitious idea turned into a business plan, and then a full-fledged pressing plant in a town synonymous with building and making things. That local DNA isn't lost on them, including their mission statement: "Hellbent on quality. Hellbent on service. One of America's most trusted vinyl record pressing plants".

Jeff is a musician himself and has been part of the Pittsburgh music scene for a bit, including time spent at a couple labels in the city. From large runs for household names acts, to smaller orders for indie bands just breaking in, Hellbender serves artists and their fans alike by creating great vinyl to share with the world. For a SPECIAL PRESENTATION on Vinyl Community Podcasts, the illustrious Stephen Schnee, The CD Junkie shares an episode of Beach Blanket Fort Bingo where he is joined by co-host Ronnie Barnett and The Waxed (Rob) for an interview with Bob, John, Paul, and Susan Cowsill about the reissue of their classic 1998 album GLOBAL on Omnivore Recordings. The album has been digitally remastered and expanded with three bonus tracks! Available November 8, 2024!

GLOBAL has been restored and remastered by multiple Grammy-winner Michael Graves and features Bob, John, Paul, and Susan Cowsill, along with Robby Scharf, on bass. The Cowsills are joined by guests Vicki Peterson (The Bangles, Continental Drifters), Berton Averre (The Knack), Peter Holsapple (The dB’s, Continental Drifters), John Stamos, and members of the extended Cowsills family.
