Buddies! Excited, pumped, stoked...I haven't been able to find the right words to express how thrilled I am to share this conversation with you! Dropping today, June 16th, TERRA FIRMA is the new double LP album (yes, double) from Nick Perri & The Underground Thieves. This is the 2nd album for this collective, and I was fortunate to spend some time talking to Nick about the new album, his fascinating career in the music industry (imagine opening for the likes of Van Halen, Aerosmith, and Motley Crue during the beginnings of your career - fresh into your 20's!), and his twists and turns since then that have led us to this incredible album: TERRA FIRMA. What is it like to create at every possible step of a project - writing the music, organizing the production, overseeing the mastering, promoting the project, then touring on it (I'm tired just writing that!). Plus, Nick is super passionate about vinyl and it was a MUST that this album (and the preceding title SUN VIA) came out on the format. I loved talking the hobby with him and you'll see him light up as we nerd out talking records and old media. I mean, it couldn't be a Vinyl Community Podcasts show with records, could it? Stay tuned to the channel and VINYL COMMUNITY PODCASTS for news on a listening party on 6/22/23 at 8pm CST on the SURFACE NOISE livestream where we'll be talking about the songs, the album, and giving away records - for real! But for now, check out the album yourself via the links below:

Against the advice of our legal team, we are back with another episode of Surface Noise. For this 'sode, Concert Buddie is joined by the usual cast of characters including Jason Roxas, Arnaldo (Fidelios_Frequency), David (Safe & Sound Texas Audio Excursion) and Jose Moreno Rahn. We deep dive into advice: namely, what is the best pieces of advice (1) you've received from someone else during your collecting (mis)adventures, (2) the best piece of advice you've shared yourself with someone else, (3) if you had one piece of advice to share immediately with someone new to collecting vinyl records, what would that be, and finally (4) if you had a time machine (as we all do), and could go back in time to give the younger version of your collecting self a piece of advice, what would that be? As always, sincere thanks for your support on this project! We couldn't and wouldn't do it without you, Buddies!

Concert Buddie | Mind of The Record Collector: Rocco Richardson (Pieces of Vinyl)
Wednesday Jun 07, 2023
Wednesday Jun 07, 2023
Great to be back, Buddies! Thanks for tuning in to this latest 'sode of Vinyl Community Podcasts and the series "Mind of The Record Collector". For this latest trip around the turntable I'm joined by fellow record collector Rocco Richardson, host of the YouTube Channel "Pieces of Vinyl". Rocco has done an OUTSTANDING job of launching his channel and providing his audience with not only terrific vinyl news, tips, and music variety, but his production value is second to none - arguably the best out there. Though this conversation I learned there is a distinct reason behind that, and we explore his 15 month+ journey so far in the trenches of the YouTube algorithm and Vinyl Community at large. We learn about Rocco's own collecting journey, including where his wide palate of taste in music comes from, and we touch on a new opportunity that has presented itself here recently for Rocco to collaborate with the subscription service Vinyl Me Please. Big doings, Buddies! All this and more coming up on this latest conversation on Vinyl Community Podcasts! Thanks for joining us!

Souldisco | Saving the Music: Interview with Dan Johnson - Audio Engineer + Archivist
Wednesday May 31, 2023
Wednesday May 31, 2023
Nadine (Souldisco) is back with another great interview here on Vinyl Community Podcasts. This time she is speaking with Dan Johnson, owner of Audio Archiving Services. Affectionately known as “The Muffin Man” according to Michael Jackson (more on that), this Maryland native has over 20 years of experience as an audio engineer, having worked for legendary Los Angeles recording studios such as Ocean Way/United Recording, Capitol Records, and Record One. For almost a decade he has exclusively focused on tape-based audio archiving, and in the process become one of the foremost experts in audio archiving, including a stint as a featured panelist for NAMM and AES. During his career, he has transferred some of the best selling albums in history for record labels, producers, artists, and estates including over 10,000 reels consisting of almost every format from full track mono to 48 track digital. As Dan puts it: "Our goal at AAS is to provide our clients with the highest quality transfers, from their tapes to a more usable digital format. As an audio engineer, I understand the love and sacrifice that goes into creating the original recording, and it's my privilege to preserve the artists' legacies through the archival process". We trust that you will find this conversation insightful, interesting, and informative as we did! Thanks again for your support and listening to this episode!
