Second verse...same as the first! Back by popular demand on Vinyl Community Podcasts, Souldisco (aka Nadine) returns to share her follow up conversation with Andreas Kohl, a longtime music industry professional (for background on Andreas, please feel free to revisit the previous conversation from the link below).
For this episode, a handful of crowd-sourced topics were discussed, including:
- Do picture discs really sound worse than standard vinyl, and why?
- How to define what an "audiophile" means from his vantage point in the industry.
- Do record-flattening machines help or hurt the grooves of our vinyl?
- A deep explanation of promotional records: from hole punches, corner cuts, foil stamping, etc.
- His thoughts + insights on true mono vs. stereo records.
- Are there ways for manufacturers to adjust the way they sleeve records from the production floor to avoid the rash of seam splits on new vinyl?
AND MORE!
It's a great opportunity to conduct and share these chats with folks like Andreas, and we hope you enjoy these long form conversations here on Vinyl Community Podcasts!

Here we go again, Buddies! My latest conversation on the Vinyl Community Podcasts feed is a great chat with Arnaldo over at the Fidelios_Frequency YouTube Channel. If you didn't know, Arnaldo works in the music industry, and we cover that and how that aligns with his record collecting journey. More so, we talk about working with passion - working in an industry, a specific job, or a specific cause you are passionate about - a topic we can both relate to. We wrap things up with the coveted #lightninground of rapid fire questions for the contemporary record collector. Let me know what you think of the conversation in the comments below! #vinylcommunity #podcast #vinylcollection

Safe & Sound Texas Audio Excursion | YouTube: First Year Reflections
Monday Feb 27, 2023
Monday Feb 27, 2023
Hope we didn't keep you waiting! Welcome again to the Safe and Sound Texas Audio Excursion! On this episode, David Bianco reflects back on a life spent listening to and collecting vinyl, and on the past year - his first on YouTube as a member of the greater Vinyl Community. What a time to have started his channel! From MoFi-Gate, to unwelcomed quality control matters, to continued explosive growth in the hobby, there's never been a better time to collect the vinyl format and to engage with others doing the same; be it on YouTube, social media, or even (gasp) the Hoffman Forums (well, most places). Nearing close to 2,000 subscribers, David is both appreciative for the support, and excited to share what's in store for this next year. Our sincere thanks to you for listening to this show, and our other programming here on Vinyl Community Podcasts!

Safe & Sound Texas Audio Excursion | G.I. Sanders: Owner + Operator of NTX Vinyl
Wednesday Feb 22, 2023
Wednesday Feb 22, 2023
Welcome again to the Safe and Sound Texas Audio Excursion here on Vinyl Community Podcasts! This episode is a memorable conversation host David Bianco shared with G.I. Sanders - owner and operator of NTX Vinyl. G.I. has developed a unique and distinct business model of selling vinyl across multiple locations in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex (Texas) area. A dedicated collector himself, G.I. has worked tirelessly not only operating his vinyl locations, but in branding NTX Vinyl by leveraging social media and YouTube to grow his reach and business to a continued small business success. Combining his passion for the hobby and music, G.I. understands many of the basic concerns of collectors today, and carefully integrates that into his business model. In lieu of the traditional brick and mortar overhead, G.I. digs deep into selling online just as much as his physical imprints, including a burgeoning presence on the selling platform Whatnot. We trust you'll find this conversation as enjoyable as we had making it!

Waddup, Buddies! The Record Store Day list is here! What you are about to listen to is a lighthearted, fun conversation I had with some folks in the Vinyl Community sharing our thoughts on the recently dropped Record Store Day (RSD) list of offerings for 2023. The annual holiday for record lovers and indie stores alike is coming soon on Saturday, April 2023, and there are some tasty, tasty treats waiting at the local shops this year. In this 'sode you'll hear from our friends over at Vinyl Reckoning (Matt & Stacey), The Record Spinner (Dylan), and the self-anointed "RSD Hater" Jason Roxas. A spirited and fun discussion was had, ripe with records we are looking forward to picking up this RSD, and also a little love for Taylor Swift in the process. Swifties, assemble!

Concert Buddie | Internet Trolls: What Gives? | A Conversation with Robert Fithen
Wednesday Feb 15, 2023
Wednesday Feb 15, 2023
Hey Buddies! I had the pleasure of sitting down with Robert Fithen, a fellow member of the Vinyl Community, first to discuss his livelong passion for music, but then we dive into our experiences with internet trolls; namely, since we started doing YouTube videos in the VC. Robert also has some firsthand research from his broadcast + radio background into what makes a troll, well, troll. Robert is one of the best in the VC, and I hope this conversation is relatable to any content creator or anyone with a social media presence. Spoiler alert: trolls are gonna troll, and it has next to nothing to do with you. This conversation will also be featured on Vinyl Community Podcasts (info below). Thanks for your continued support, Buddies!

This special presentation to Vinyl Community Podcasts is thanks to The Waxed (VC) and his terrific conversation with musician Garrett Saracho. What started with a comment on The Waxed's instagram page from Saracho's manager ultimately led to a direct meeting and chat with the artist himself. Fresh off the universally lauded reception to the RSD reissue of his lost jazz album "En Medio", this conversation details the artist talking about his career, this particular recording, and even another release that recently came out on vinyl: Jazz is Dead #15. These recordings are available at streaming services near you, and the vinyl can still be found (as of this writing) at indie record stores across the country (and the link below). We hope you enjoy this chat as much as we did!

Souldisco | Ask a Business Insider: Record Pressing Manager Answers All
Friday Feb 10, 2023
Friday Feb 10, 2023
For her introductory show on Vinyl Community Podcasts, Souldisco (aka Nadine) is here to share her recent conversation with Andreas Kohl, a longtime music industry professional. He began his career in the music industry in the 1990's booking underground shows and operating fanzines before graduating to a full time music journalist for VISIONS magazine. From there Andreas soon started his own label (Exile on Mainstream) - still in operation today - before additional stops on his musical journey: first at Optimal Media on the production side, then joining vinyl broker Keyproduction expanding relationships with multiple pressing plants. With a life and career spent immersed in the music business, you will find there are few areas of the industry he has not been directly involved in. Oh, and for fun he builds speaker cabinets and DJ's - music is life! Hope you enjoy this long form conversation - a first for Vinyl Community Podcasts!
