Surface Noise | Talking More Record Collecting (Again)
Wednesday Jul 12, 2023
Wednesday Jul 12, 2023
Let's climb those steps, Buddies! This 'sode is from our recent SURFACE NOISE livestream talking with regulars David (Safe & Sound Texas Audio Excursion), Arnaldo (Fidelios_Frequency), and some newcomers in the form of the lethal weapon - Felipe of Jazz Bums fame - the venerable Wyoming Dave, and good friend of the program Novisnick from the great state of Louisiana. We lead the show talking about the Speakers Corner snafu (are they closing...are they still open) before delving into our two central questions for the show: (1) What should every record collector know AND (2) What should every record collector now about. The answers may surprise you! Click ahead to listen, and let us know on our socials or even the actual YouTube broadcast what you think and how you might choose to answer those questions! As always, thanks for your continued support for Vinyl Community Podcasts!

Welcome back, Buddies! Appreciate you joining us for this special presentation on Vinyl Community Podcasts. For this episode I am joined by The Youngest Members of The Vinyl Community (TYMOTVC), and we learn where they will be heading to for their third annual meetup. But first, who are The Youngest Members of The Vinyl Community? We learn more about this group of friends from members Emma (Eight Vinyl Low), Marichen (Marichen's Music), and Dylan (The Record Spinner) who share the origins of this collective, and how a shared love of music and kindred appreciation of the vinyl format not only created this bond, but have strengthened it over several years. We touch on what they feel has changed from Trip #1 (Nashville) to Trip #2 (St. Louis), and now from Trip #2 to this Trip #3. We learn which channels (outside of each other's) have helped serve as great information and entertainment hubs lending inspiration to their own YouTube channels, and also what are they each looking forward to on this year's adventure. Along the way we field some questions from the folks who joined us live, and end the broadcast wishing them a most excellent and fun adventure ahead!

Welcome back to this latest installment of Vinyl Community Podcasts! On this trip around the turntable, Souldisco (Nadine) hosts a fun and insightful conversation about Vinyl Me, Please - the U.S. subscription vinyl service and independent record label. Founded in 2013 by Cameron Schaefer, VMP was initially established as a record of the month club, offering curated vinyl selections delivered straight to the doorsteps of it's members. Since then, it has evolved into a comprehensive music platform, encompassing record releases, online content, and an active community of music lovers.
Vinyl Me, Please has carved out a niche in the music industry by combining the joy of vinyl collecting with a curated listening experience and a vibrant community. It's dedication to quality curation, attention to detail in packaging and presentation, and commitment to supporting artists have endeared the label to vinyl enthusiasts around the world. By bridging the gap between past and present, mainstream and obscure, Vinyl Me, Please continues to play a significant role in preserving the art and appreciation of vinyl records while championing the power of music discovery.
Joining in this conversation is Sr. Manager of Customer Care at VMP Paul Bass (or Paulium for VMP members in the know) to share details from the perspective of a longtime employee of VMP. Rounding out the panel is Rocco (Pieces of Vinyl) - a fervent VMP champion, and Michael 45 - a longtime customer of VMP who frequently reviews the latest and greatest products offered by VMP on his influential YouTube channel. We hope you enjoy this presentation, and thank you for listening to Vinyl Community Podcasts!

The Show With No Name (Yet) - These Guys Again?
Wednesday Jun 28, 2023
Wednesday Jun 28, 2023
Oh. Hey. This show has everything! Furbies, screaming babies in Mozart wigs, sunburned drifters, puppets in disguise, a Teddy Ruxpin wearing mascara, clones, freaks, sneezing, a Russian man on a prepaid cell phone...oh, who are we kidding. Host Louie Golden brings his weekly livestream back to the airwaves of Vinyl Community Podcasts with guest Rocco (Pieces of Vinyl) fresh off a power outage during the show, and returning panelists Vance (zeppearl) and Chance (Concert Buddie) - not a WWE tag team (anymore?) - to discuss VC channels they recommend as learning instruments in vinyl collecting, another recent instance of FOMO kicking in on the recent Cars/ST Rhino audiophile reissue, plus a larger discussion of whether digital recording gets a fair rep with advances in mastering technology compared to it's analog brethren. The conversation goes up, down, side to side, and all places in between. Some call it mayhem, we call it The Show With No Name (Yet). Join us, shall you? We float down here...

Surface Noise | Listening Party (Terra Firma)
Monday Jun 26, 2023
Monday Jun 26, 2023
Welcome back my friends to the show that sometimes ends. Trying something new this week for SURFACE NOISE. Fresh off the heels of listening to the new album from Nick Perri & The Underground Thieves - TERRA FIRMA - our team share some thoughts, observations, and other insights into this album, as well as plays some choice cuts from the 14 song, independent double LP release from this collective. With 3/4 of the panel new to this artist and his music, it was a fun way to get fresh perspective on this fresh release, and we hope you take time following the pod to give the album a listen on your preferred streaming platform of choice. There are even some music videos available on YouTube! As always, sincere thanks for giving our little program a listen here, and for giving TERRA FIRMA a spin (or stream) at your convenience. It's projects like this that help put the "community" into "vinyl community", and hopefully give eyes and ears to help discover this wildly talented artist to a larger audience.

Greetings Buddies! For this latest one-on-one on Vinyl Community Podcasts, I'm joined by Jim Kaplan - the founder, publisher, distributor, editor, deliverer (if that's a word) of Record Collector News. RCN has been in print since 2008 just celebrating it's 15th year in existence. Published 6x each year, RCN showcases articles, op-eds, and additional content on the hobby from a vast array of contributors, including some in the Vinyl Community from YouTube. Not only a great source of information, RCN has given many folks (myself included - full disclosure) an open invitation to write for the paper sharing distinct points-of-view into record collecting in the current era. Jim has some great stories not just on the origins of RCN, but how he started his connection and passion for music, and his own insight into record collecting today in the metro Los Angeles area. It's a conversation I was looking forward to a great deal, and hope you find it as insightful as I did. Thanks for your continued support here on the channel and Vinyl Community Podcasts!
